Smurf Song

For reasons too complicated to explain, my girlfriend Daisy turned blue last week.  It was a perfectly normal thing to happen in the circumstances, we were informed with calm and unconcern, and she has now reverted to her regular healthy looking colour, pink.

While she was blue, I was naturally reminded of The Smurf Song:

I had forgotten about the extraordinary key change/descant about 90 seconds into this song, so extraordinary that Father Abraham even comments on it during the song and reprimands the offending Smurf for smurfing in that way.  

This song went to number one in many countries in the late 1970s but not in the UK - John Travolta and Olivia Newton John fended off those Smurfs with "You're The One That I Want", so the Smurfs only managed No 2 in the UK.
